The everlasting birch clearing from the dome of Portmoak Moss, rare lowland raised bog, continued in November with 11.5 hours spent there on many different days and in varying weathers. I found the birch roots came up easily when the ground was lightly frozen. When the saplings themselves froze then it was useless trying to get them out as they just snapped! Nice bird sightings: a male bullfinch and a spotted woodpecker who didn’t ever seem to spot me.
Number of trees removed: 922 834 birch / 73 spruce / 10 scots pine / 3 rowan / 2 willow.
